About

Interfaith Harmony Halifax
The purpose of IHH is to promote the vision of the UN World Interfaith Harmony Week, which is to spread harmony through promoting Love of God, the Good, and Love of the Neighbour.

Interfaith Harmony Week
The World Interfaith Harmony Week was first proposed at the UN General Assembly on September 23, 2010 by H.M. King Abdullah II of Jordan. Just under a month later, on October 20, 2010, it was unanimously adopted by the UN and henceforth the first week of February will be observed as a World Interfaith Harmony Week. Vision: To spread harmony through promoting Love of God, the Good, and Love of the Neighbour. This wording is meant to include people of all faiths, and all people of goodwill with no declared faith or spiritual tradition.

Throughout the world, the designated week provides an opportunity for diverse faith communities and groups of goodwill to gather and share the richness of their traditions in an atmosphere of openness, discovery, understanding, appreciation, respect and, yes, celebration.
